Workshops

Shiatsu Swaps: conceived as an opportunity to learn from each other, we will have some time after the swaps for feedback, which may include practical demonstrations of techniques which other participants have found interesting.

Working with the breath: we will be using the breath to work with all internal organs in an integrated way to facilitate Ki and blood flow in the organs themselves as well as throughout the body and meridians.

- Moving stale/stagnant Ki

- Support the natural expansion/contraction of internal organs for their effective functioning

- Helping your clients to experience the freedom of breath, a sense of expansion, and well-being

- Improving naturally occurring internal organ peristaltic movement

- Helps the body maintain an optimum ph (acidosis- alkalosis) balance.

Shiatsu for cancer patients: Meridians' diagnosis and the way to treat patients with different situations & types of Cancer in Shiatsu.

How to treat the patient through the Meridian & Tsubo that stimulates directly the internal healing power (Internal Seiki) of the patient and improve her/his condition in different situations.

Postural shoulder pain: headaches, neck, back and shoulder pain, hand and wrist problems are common nowadays. The workshop will look at the causes of postural shoulder pain, the physiology and pathology of common muscle imbalances, and movement patterns that result. It will be treated using hands-on techniques, points, muscle release, exercises and self treatment and visualisations.

Shiatsu for migraines: Shiatsu can be used for both acute and preventive care, alleviating pain and diminishing the frequency of migraines. Participants will discuss the pathology of migraines, causes, evidence-based research for CAM in their treatment and self-care strategies that can be shared with patients. Demonstrations and practice of shiatsu techniques will allow participants to confidently incorporate them into their treatments.

Meridians and Child Development : research with disabled children has shown that infant movement develops exactly along the paths of traditional meridians. This gives a way of using these archetypal movements as part of a shiatsu treatment.

Shiatsu for Alzheimer's: shiatsu techniques to reduce stress and agitation in Alzheimer's patients. We will learn how to adapt shiatsu for these patients, what we have to take in consideration when working with Alzheimer's, and we will see the latest developments in research on CAM and Alzheimer’s.

Shiatsu for autism spectrum disorder (ASD): Treating autistic people with Shiatsu can be challenging. However, Shiatsu can prove to be very beneficial for patients with autism disorder in many different ways. In the workshop we’ll address those challenges and how to overcome them. Also, we will deepen our understanding of autism and of how autistic patients experience the world.

Shiatsu research basics: An introduction to the basics of research. Learn about valuable research resources, how to use research to inform your practice and things to consider if you wish to get started doing your own research. We’ll discuss different types of research, how to connect with researchers and how to get started writing a case study.
