Treating Autism Spectrum Disorder with shiatsu

People with autism disorder have a very different sense of the world than other people, regarding sensual input and output, social skills and understanding of relationships. In severe cases, such people require aid in most daily tasks and experience difficulties in various aspects of their lives.

As healers, we should learn how to be approachable to different populations, especially those people who are in great need for a therapy and who might not be able to make their own decision to participate in a treatment.

During the workshop we will deepen our understanding of autism and will try to experience the world from the autistic point of view. Later we will discuss the approach and different strategies to help our patients receive the shiatsu treatment and benefit from it. Lastly, we will discuss what aspects of shiatsu make it an excellent therapy for the autistic patients.
